Choosing a counting machine is usually the moment a supplement brand stops finishing bottles by hand. How Electronic Counting Machines Work
An electronic counting machine places a set number of capsules or tablets into each bottle. Product feeds from a bulk hopper — typically across vibrating channels or a rotary system — past photoelectric sensors that register each piece as it drops toward the container. How to Size a Counting Machine for Your Production
Sizing starts from bottles per minute, not pieces per minute — and the two diverge quickly. A counter rated in pieces per minute finishes fewer bottles as the count per bottle rises: at a nominal 2,000–3,500 pieces per minute, a 100-count bottle works out to roughly 20–35 bottles per minute; a 30-count bottle, proportionally more. Work through five inputs:
Sustained production volume. Size against the volume you actually run week after week, with headroom — not a launch-month spike.

What Affects Counting Machine Cost
Counting machines are quoted to configuration, so the useful question is what moves the number:
- Automation class. The largest step change: semi-automatic stations carry lower capital cost; automatic inline counters cost more and repay it in cost per bottle at sustained volume.
