The range spans from 24,000 to 450,000 capsules per hour, with several distinct output tiers between those endpoints. Selecting the wrong tier isn't a small error: too high and you've paid for capacity that sits idle and floor space you didn't need; too low and the machine becomes your ceiling.
This guide maps production requirements to NJP tiers. It doesn't cover whether an automatic machine is right for you — that's the automatic capsule filling machine buyer guide — and it isn't a cross-class explanation of capsule output, which is the capsules-per-hour output guide. This is the NJP-specific mapping between the two.
Step one: convert your requirement into capsules per hour
Work from finished goods backward:
Required capsules/hour = (capsules per bottle × bottles per month) ÷ (production hours per month at rate)
The denominator is where estimates go wrong. Production hours at rate is not hours in the month, and not even hours of scheduled production — it's the hours the filler is actually running at speed, after changeovers between capsule sizes, cleaning between products, setup, and everything else that consumes a shift. If you're currently running a semi-automatic machine, you have this number already; measure it before you size.
A brand producing 400,000 capsules a month across two SKUs, running roughly 60 hours a month at rate, needs somewhere near 6,700 capsules/hour. That figure fits comfortably within the smallest machine in the range. Monthly volumes that sound large convert to modest hourly requirements once spread across real production time.
Step two: the NJP tiers

Two adjacent alternatives are worth knowing about while you're sizing. The SFK-3800 matches the NJP-3800C's 228,000/hour rating with a continuous-motion design and compact footprint, and the LF-80 reaches up to 40,000/hour using dosator dosing — relevant if your material suits dosator filling. Nominal output vs what you'll actually produce
Every figure above is a nominal rating. The product pages state it plainly: output is "up to" the rated figure, depending on capsule size and formulation. Actual production output is lower, and how much lower depends on your specifics.
We don't publish an efficiency percentage, because an honest one doesn't exist across products — the factors that separate nominal from achievable include capsule size, fill material and its flow behavior, changeover frequency across SKUs, cleaning requirements, operator experience, and how much of your scheduled time the machine spends at rate.
What we'd recommend instead of a rule of thumb: size against sustained requirement with deliberate headroom, and confirm realistic output for your specific formulation and capsule size with our team during scoping. If your calculated requirement lands close to the top of a tier's nominal rating, that's a reason to consider the next tier — not because the rating is wrong, but because you'd be planning to run flat out with nothing left for a heavier month.
Step three: check the constraints that aren't output
A tier that matches on capsules per hour can still be the wrong machine.
Power. Configuration varies by model and variant — the NJP-400C is three-phase in 110V/60Hz and 220V/50Hz variants, the NJP-800C is 220V three-phase, and the NJP-1200C offers 110V/60Hz or 380V/50Hz. Match your facility supply before you settle on a variant; a 380V requirement in a 220V building is an electrical project, not a footnote.
Footprint. The NJP-400C is described as the smallest automatic in the range at 720 × 680 × 1700 mm and 700 kg; the NJP-800C is 1080 × 1240 × 1930 mm at 900 kg; the NJP-1200C is 1180 × 1340 × 1980 mm at 900 kg. Footprint and utility requirements should be confirmed for the exact higher-output model before final selection — and remember that installation needs access and service clearance, not just the machine's own footprint.
Downstream capacity. This is the constraint buyers most often discover late. A filler producing 72,000 capsules an hour needs polishing, counting, and bottling that can absorb them; otherwise you've moved the bottleneck rather than removed it. Size the filler against what the rest of your workflow can take, or plan the downstream upgrade in the same project.
Step four: sanity-check the tier
Size against documented near-term production demand with reasonable headroom. Avoid selecting a much larger tier solely from an aggressive forecast; the required output should be supported by a realistic production plan and downstream capacity.
Automatic fillers are long-lived capital equipment, so a modest step up for headroom is a reasonable conversation to have at purchase — but it should be grounded in demand you can document, not in a projection.
